NR Software Systems and AboveNet Communications Announce Strategic Alliance for Integrated e-Solutions
February 11, 2002
Los Angeles, CA - February 11, 2002 - NR Software Systems, Inc., one of the world's leading providers of e-business solutions, and AboveNet Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: ABOV), the architect of a global one-hop network, today announced the signing of a preliminary strategic partnership agreement to integrate NR Software's e-business solutions services with AboveNet's connectivity and co-location services for high-bandwidth content sites, ISPs, and Application Service Providers.
"We're forerunners in providing comprehensive e-business solutions to a demanding customer base and strategic alliances with companies like AboveNet help us ensure the 100% application availability we demand," said Jeff Goldstein, NR Software Systems' CTO. "Making use of the AboveNet's advance network allows us to take advantage of its private and public peering relationships with hundreds of ISPs to make sure content is delivered with unmatched reliability and speed. AboveNet shares our attention to detail resulting in an extremely powerful solution for our end users. We're forging ahead to become the dominant player in the application services industry with the quality of our solutions and the dedication of our staff.
NR Software and AboveNet are looking to further co-marketing activities to take advantage of the diverse market bases each partner provides. The best-of-breed
services each entity provides enables the creation of a distinctly powerful marketing tool that allows both NR Software and AboveNet to provide their respective clientele with superior integrated solutions.
NR Software's COO Katy So explains, "We consider each and every one of our applications to be mission-critical. Downtime is simply unacceptable to both us and our customers. Our applications are built to be reliable, scalable, and secure and we require an Internet infrastructure that also demonstrates these important qualities. With their 100 percent up-time Service Level Agreement, we know that AboveNet confidently stands behind their service offerings much in the same manner as we do at NR Software."
AboveNet's unique Global "One-Hop" Network model enables it to offer one hop connectivity and network performance to NR Software. At each of AboveNet's ISX facilities, content and service providers connect to each other in a LAN environment and then directly connect to the rest of the Internet through an extensive network of more than 300 private and public peering agreements with all of the top ISPs and backbone providers worldwide. This architecture can reduce the multiple network hops information often takes to reach its final destination on the Internet. The resulting "one-hop" network is highly redundant and is designed to deliver superior network performance.
We value customer satisfaction above all else, that is what we are about," continues Jeff Goldstein. "Our strategic alliance with AboveNet allows for uninterrupted access to the content and services which we provide. AboveNet's advanced data center facilities and optical network provide NR Software with a highly secure and reliable network-based medium which in turn allows us to couple this security and reliability with that of our applications ultimately getting passed on to our clientele. Our customers can continue to confidently engage in the exchange of critical and confidential information without the worry of network or application unavailability."
